Builder Specifications
Copper is a natural resource that can withstand all weather conditions and last forever. Just look at the statue of liberty. It is made of solid copper and is recyclable. Other metals such as aluminum deteriorate over time due to electrolytic corrosion. Steel rusts and brass pits unless cleaned and polished and plastic will degrade due to UV exposure.
Copper is the only metal that protects itself by forming a green-colored coating called patina. In 6 months it will turn brown and in 6 years it will start to turn green.
The following guidlines apply for installation of our lanterns.
- ¼ inch copper flare line is used for all gas connections to the fixture.
- Each fixture requires 110/120v incoming voltage and a ¼ inch gas line to provide gas to fixture.
- Do not use low voltage wire to connect transformer to fixture.
- Natural gas lines require 7-10 pounds of water column pressure
- Propane requires 12 pounds of water column pressure
- It is important to check flame height and ensure it is no more than 2 inches tall unless it is a large fixture.
- When ordering a propane ignited lantern ensure you have a copper top and not glass it tends to blacken up due to the propane gas burning sooty.
- All glass in all of our lanterns is safety tempered glass.
